Trials and Tests

Something I just learned this summer is that life is full of trials, struggles and tests.  It seems that right when I finished passing one test, another one popped up, like a pop up quiz.  This is what I have discovered.  We will always have challenges and problems to solve, the key is to remain happy while we are waiting for the solution.  Just because I have a difficult time in my life does not mean that I have to have a bad attitude or be mean to others.  In fact, when I can't change the situation, I can change my attitude towards the situation.  I can have a problem in my life and still be kind to others.  In fact, the best thing I can do if I do not see the solution is to go help someone with his/her problem and put my issue on the back burner.  What I eventually began to see was that when I helped someone else, God helped my solution come forth. I did not become a PE teacher to distance teach, but right now I will be the best online/distance teacher I can be.

Now, go out there and give the world the best version of yourself.  The person that has a positive attitude in all situations.  Someone who picks up trash, opens doors, assists the elderly and helps out in ways that that still small voice inside you says.  Go mow your neighbor's lawn.  Walk your elderly neighbor's dog, keeping in mind social distancing..  Give a compliment or smile to a stranger. Apologize when you make a mistake.  Make your bed.  Take out the trash.  Pick up the phone and call your grandparents or an older person that lives alone and has been in quarantine for the past few months and let them know you are thinking of them.  The best gift you can give anyone is the gift of your undivided attention.

Be safe out there and hopefully we will see each other soon, face to face.

Thanks,

Coach Schenk
